IMB Journeyman
A Journeyman is sent by their local church through the IMB to join an international missionary team to share the gospel, make disciples, and help plant churches. Specific roles vary from person to person, team to team, and place to place. Responsibilities can include leadership development and training, volunteer coordination, teaching English, sports ministries, working in coffee shops, community development, research and mapping, and more. Journeymen must be active Southern Baptists, permanent U.S. citizens (or possess a 10-year green card), affirm the Baptist Faith and Message, be between the ages of 21-29, and be physically, emotionally, and spiritually cleared to serve full-time with the IMB. Journeymen do not need college degrees, can be singles or married couples with no children, and they must work well in a team environment.

QUESTIONS
Go2 is an initiative that challenges graduates and young professionals to commit two years to serving the Kingdom of God in a strategic, disciple-making context. You can do this by serving in a vocational capacity, like in a ministry residency or on an international missions team, or by serving a church plant while working a marketplace job.
Each opportunity will have different requirements. Some require a bachelor’s degree or an age range, while others don’t! Because of the variety of opportunities and partnerships, we trust that you’ll be able to find a good fit.
If you feel called to go but would like to finish school or pay off debt first, there are ways you can prepare today! Get involved with a local church. Serve, invest, and seek mentorship there.
Explore different partnership pathways. You can begin praying for direction now and may even be able to begin the application process.
Spend a summer exploring your desired pathway, like GenSend or an international summer project.
Great! If your church or ministry has a partnership to which you want to commit two years, that’s fantastic! Use the resources here to help you along the way. You can still sign up to let us know you’re going and stay connected to Go2.

“I’ve been thinking about where to look for a job after college. I’ve been praying about how I can use my career to help introduce people to Jesus.”
“My (church/college ministry) has done several trips to (city name), and I’ve worked with (church plant name) on those trips. I’m considering taking part in Go2 – an initiative that asks graduating seniors to find marketplace jobs in places where churches are being started to help share Christ and make disciples in new communities.”
“You have invested in me during these college years, and I want to now invest in others by going somewhere I can share Christ with people who do not know Him.”
